Bekwai, Ashanti Region – February 17, 2025 - The Bekwai Municipal Assembly Hall was filled to capacity on Monday, 17th February, 2025, as hundreds of enthusiastic youth and community members gathered for an information session on the Digital Access for Rural Empowerment (DARE) Project. The event aimed at sensitizing potential participants about the benefits, goals, and training opportunities under the DARE initiative.
The session was organized by Hapa Space Innovation Hub, in collaboration with the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, and saw the presence of high-profile dignitaries including the Chief Executive Officer of Hapa Space, Mr. Gideon Brefo, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), of Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Ms. Sheila Rosetta Arthur and key members of the Hapa Space technical and administrative team.
In his keynote address, Mr. Gideon Brefo highlighted the purpose of the DARE project—to bridge the digital divide by equipping youth and underserved groups in rural areas with essential digital skills. He emphasized that digital literacy is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s world, and encouraged all attendees to take full advantage of the opportunity.
The MCD, representing the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, commended Hapa Space for choosing Bekwai as a beneficiary district and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment and technology-driven development.
The session featured detailed presentations on the DARE project curriculum, application process, and training benefits, including entrepreneurship support, mentorship, and job readiness.
Participants engaged actively during the Q&A segment, with many expressing keen interest in enrolling for the training. Information brochures were distributed, and registration desks were set up to assist interested individuals.
The DARE project continues to receive praise for its inclusive approach to skills development and its potential to transform rural economies through innovation and access to technology.
