The Bekwai Municipal Health Directorate through the Ghana Health Service and partners from Thursday 5th May, 2022 to Sunday, 7th May, 2022 organized the second round of National Polio Immunization exercise to vaccinate all children from 0 – 59 months of age (children less than 5yrs old) with polio vaccine to protect them against Polio disease.
On each day, Polio Vaccine was given to protect all children under 5yrs against the polio disease. Also, Vitamin A capsule was given to all children aged 6 months to 5yrs to help boost their immunity and make them healthy.
Community Volunteers and Health Workers visited houses, markets, lorry stations, churches/mosques, pre-schools and other public places to vaccinate all eligible children. Parents and caregivers were advised to patronize the immunization service available at all Hospitals, Health Centers and Clinics.
