As part of preparations for the Ashanti Festival celebration in the Ashanti Region, the Bekwai Municipal Assembly on Saturday, 12th April 2025, organized a clean-up exercise in the municipal capital, Bekwai. The clean-up saw the desilting of choked drains, sweeping of dirty areas, and the collection of rubbish from key parts of the municipality. The initiative was led by the Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD), Ms. Sheila Rosetta Arthur, who actively took part in the exercise.
A cross-section of the community participated in the exercise, including traders, drivers, shop owners, food vendors, security service officials, and staff of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly.
Ms. Arthur commended the high level of participation and emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, especially during festive periods that draw large crowds. She encouraged residents to adopt good sanitation practices as part of their daily routines to ensure a healthier and more attractive municipality.
The exercise was marked by a strong sense of community spirit and commitment to cleanliness, reflecting the municipality’s readiness to welcome visitors during the upcoming Ashanti Festival.
