The Girls’ Education Unit of the Municipal Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Municipal Health Directorate, Bekwai, on Friday, 22nd March, 2024 organized a seminar in commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day for female students of St. Joseph’s Senior High Technical School, Ehuren.
The seminar was aimed at educating students on the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene and promoting healthy practices among adolescent girls. The Director of Health, the Girls’ Education Officer, and other resource persons took turns to address the students on key topics including the importance of observing proper menstrual hygiene, the effects of poor menstrual hygiene on the reproductive system and other internal organs, as well as a practical demonstration on the correct usage and safe disposal of sanitary pads.
As part of the programme, Blessed Care International Organization, a non-governmental organization and one of the sponsors of the event, donated three hundred and fifty (350) sanitary pads to support the menstrual needs of the students.
The seminar was well attended and provided an interactive platform for students to ask questions and gain practical knowledge to enhance their personal health and well-being.
