On the 6th of June, 2022, the Environmental Health Officers within the Bekwai Municipality as part of ways to prevent the sales of unwholesome food in the market, embarked on a general inspection with food hygiene and safety being a key factor in the operation. Provision shops were inspected to detect expired, dented, bloated and rusted goods within the business market and get rid of them to minimise food related diseases.
Numerous shops were inspected which 8 shops were found with expired, dented, bloated and rusted food items. Cautions were given to the shop owner to always inspect their shops to detect these expired, bloated, dented and rusted food items.
Food items included expired bottled drinks, expired paper drinks, expired expired Nescafe, bloated and dented canned foods. These items were sent to the dump site at Sesekro in the Bekwai Municipality on the 26th of August, 2022 for a sanitary disposal.
