ORIENTATION FOR 2021/2022 NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL

An orientation program has been organized for National Service Personnel on 11th November 2021, at the Methodist Conference Hall, Bekwai.

The objective of the one-day Programme which was organized by the Bekwai Municipal Office of National Service Scheme (NSS) was among other things, to sensitize service personnel on work ethics and the importance of doing national service.

Speaking at the Programme, the Bekwai Municipal Human Resource Manager, Mr. Rasheed Gbadamosi called on service personnel to adhere to the laid-down rules and regulations, and submit to their superior at the workplace to learn and tap from their experiences. He also talked about the code of conduct and highlighted on some of them.

He advised them about punctuality to their place of service, they should try as much as possibly to be punctual at all times and always seek permission when the need arises. He cautioned the personnel about dressing, since they cannot dress anyhow to their place of work.

He again spoke about relationship with their superiors and colleagues, always mind how they speak remember respect is reciprocal.

The Municipal Director of NSS, Mrs. Sussana Otoo briefed the personnel on some of the objectives of her office as to bring National Service Personnel at all levels together for the benefit of their various organizations.

She added that the personnel were to help promote their welfare and develop manpower skills through training. She also took the personnel through a brief history about the scheme and its mandate emphasizing the reasons and advantages of fulfilling their constitutional mandate.

She however warned that payment of service allowance would be based strictly on the submission of the duty forms and that any service personnel who failed to submit the forms after the deadline would have to forego his or her allowance for the said month or experience delays in payment.

On his part, the Bekwai MCE, Hon Kwaku Kyei Baffour advised all the service personnel to be hard working, adding that tutelage during national service was a means to future employment opportunities.

He also advised the personnel to take advantages of the opportunity since it is free and there are high chances of their business ideas being funded the incubation Programme.

He further challenged personnel to use the service period to develop their corporate beings so that they can be useful to themselves and the country.

 Lastly Evans then took them through internal matters, thus his work as a secretary at the Bekwai Municipal NSS Secretariat. He educated them on how they can purchase items on their dashboard on credit which will be paid within a stipulated ten (10) months period.

He finally explained issues concerning their monthly evaluation form and the e-switch payment system which includes how to access their evaluation forms and be able to print it out.
