MCE VISITS AFFECTED SCHOOLS AFTER HEAVY RAINFALL

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, has visited affected schools of a recent rainstorm disaster to have firsthand information on the extent of damage.

The roofs of 4 schools, together with teachers' bungalows in Bekwai SDA SHS were ripped off, leaving one injured and others homeless. The affected schools visited are Adventist Preparatory School (APS), SDA Senior High School (SDASS) and Roman Catholic School.

The MCE after the tour, appealed to the National Disaster Management Organization and other benevolent individuals and organizations to aid the affected schools and the community to help put the structures in shape to enable the victims to live a normal life.

He described the situation as devastated and required urgent attention to the victims. The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Leticia Obeng expressed her shock at the extent of damage and hinted at closing down the Roman Schools for some time until the authorities are able to fix the damages.

She appealed to benevolent institutions, philanthropists and old students to help fix the damage as quickly as possible to enable the students return to their classrooms.
