The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA), Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour on Tuesday, 25th April, 2023 undertook a monitoring visit to Kokofu and Bekwai Community ICT Centers (CICs) in the Bekwai Municipality.

He was accompanied by the Assembly Member for Kokofu Electoral Area, Hon. Richard Peprah and the MIS Officer of BMA, Mr. Yaw Asante.

The purpose of the visit was to monitor an ongoing 13-day Digital Skills training dubbed Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) currently happening in One Hundred and Fifty-Five (155) Community ICT Centers across the country.

The Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) Initiative was launched in September 2019 by ITU in partnership with Cisco with the objective of supporting countries to strengthen digital capacities of citizens, particularly in the underserved communities.

Both Bekwai and Kokofu CICs being part of the selected DTCs become part of a global network of institutions to accelerate the uptake of digital technologies among citizens and boost the capacity of young entrepreneurs and SMEs to succeed in the digital economy.

At both ICT Centers, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour expressed his appreciation to the participants particularly the market women and the marginalized individuals for defying the odds to fully partake in this valuable training. He encouraged them to continuously apply the digital skills given them in all their endeavours in order to participate in the world digital economy. He further encouraged them to continuously patronize the services of the ICT Centers for their intended purposes to be achieved.

Finally, the MCE and the Assembly Member presented certificates to participants on their completion of the courses taught.
