
The Head of Local government Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur on 24th August 2017 paid a working visit to the Bekwai Municipal Assembly. The visit he said, forms part of his nationwide familiarization tour to all MMDA’s to enable him interact with staff of the various districts and gather first-hand information on their work and also to share with them his vision since he assumed office.
In his interaction with the staff, Dr. Ato Arthur raised a couple of issues and briefed officers about the on going transfers which he said is to enhance the performance of the Assemblies.
On the issue of revenue mobilization, he mentioned that most of the Assemblies have performed badly and thus urged them to improve on it.
Nana Ato Arthur commended the Obuasi Municipal Assembly for introducing the Biometric Clocking Device to check lateness and absenteeism and admonished the Bekwai Municipal Assembly to follow suit.
The Head of Service entreated the staff to work hard and also support the New Municipal Chief Executive to enable him succeed and improve the lives of the people in the Municipality.
He assured the staff of the continuous support of the office of the Head of Local Government Service to facilitate developments in the service.
The meeting also accorded staff the opportunity to ask questions and discuss pertinent issues. Among these were promotions, inadequate office accommodation, staff accommodation, delays in upgrading and conversion, salary increment among others.
Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, the Municipal Chief Executive thanked the Head of the Local Government Service for his visit and assure him that, everything that has been discussed at the meeting will be adhered to.
Among the important personalities who accompanied the Head of Service on his visit were Mr. Joseph M. Dasanah, Chief Director at the Local Government Service and Mr. Oppong Mensah, Human Resource Director.
