ntinanko_education

The Department on its core mandate to promote and protect the rights of children undertook sensitization activity on child neglect and abandonment at the Ntinanko community in the Bekwai Municipality. The main reason was that there has been evolving issue with regard to child neglect and child abandonment in the Bekwai Municipality. The Department has found out that children under the ages of eighteen (18) who normally find themselves on major streets to trade at school hours while others roam about aimlessly are mostly children who have been abandoned or neglected by either parents or caregivers. We therefore took it upon ourselves on Friday, 9th June, 2023 to educate parents and caregivers on child abandonment and child neglect at the Ntinanko community.

Basically, three main topics were discussed by Officers;

1. The overview of child abandonment and child neglect.

2. The causes and effects of child abandonment and child neglect.

3. Ways in which child abandonment and child neglect issues can be resolved.
