The Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA) on Thursday, 9th September, 2021 held an inter-sectorial stakeholders meeting to receive information about the mid-year activities carried out by the various public departments and sectors operating in the municipality. These sectors include Agriculture, Health Service, Forestry Commission, Fire Service, Police Service, Education, Electricity, Health Insurance, Immigration Service, Water and Sanitation, Social Welfare and Community Development, Business Advisory Center etc.

In his opening remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) – Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour welcomed the house and iterated the need for all heads of public sectors in the municipal to meet frequently to deliberate on issues confronting them and receive contributions to improve upon the service delivery of the sectors involved.

He seized the opportunity to congratulate the Audit Committee of the Assembly and the Municipal as a whole for adjudging the best audit committee in the Ashanti Region this year. He further encouraged the house to work hard to exceed the height reached by the Audit Committee.

On the part of the Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD) – Mr Daniel Osei-Asibey, he mentioned the existence of Performance Contract signed between the MCE/MCD and the Ashanti Regional Minister and emphasized on the need for all members to take up their roles in the contract to achieve a collective success. He further stressed on the need for inter-departmental/unit collaboration for effective division of labour.

All the heads of the various departments and sectors represented took turns to brief the house on the activities undertaken and challenges faced in the period under review. Several concerns were raised and the heads responded to the concerns to the satisfaction of the house.

In his closing remarks, the MCE acknowledged all submissions and assured all members that he will do his possible best to ensure that all concerns are addressed. He finally thanked all members for honouring his invitation.
