The Department of Agriculture under the Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA) on Friday, 1st December, 2023 organized a district level Farmers Day Celebration at Ahwiren in the Bekwai Municipality.
This 39th Farmers' Day Celebration was under the theme "Delivering Smart Solutions For Sustainable Food Security and Resilience".
Gracing the occasion was the Municipal Chef Executive (MCE) Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, Members of the Municipal Security Council, Hon. Assembly Members, award winners and Heads of various Institutions in the Municipality. The rest were past award winners, Traditional Authorities, Farmers, dealers of agricultural products, Staff of BMA, media and a cross section of the public.
At the event, a 43-year-old farmer from Poano, Mr. Anthony Karikari was adjudged the overall District Best Farmer. For his prize, Mr Anthony took home an Anglogold Ashanti sponsored motorized tricycle, 40 inches LED Television, Knapsack Sprayer, Bars of Key Soap and others.
In his closing remark, the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr Emmanuel Mensah congratulated farmers in the municipality for their immense role in the successful implementation of government's flagship programmes.
He spoke on the relevance of observing the National Farmers' Day Celebrations and charged farmers not to rest on their laurels but continue to work hard to set the municipal and the country at large on the path of economic recovery.
He finally thanked all present for honoring his invitation.
