The Development Planning Unit of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA) on Tuesday, 14th December, 2021 carried out a public hearing on the preparation of Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) at the Bekwai Methodist Church Conference Hall. This is in accordance with the development plan preparation guidelines to update the general public on the progress made after their inputs were received in an earlier needs assessment engagement.
All related stakeholders, namely traditional leaders, religious groups, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), heads of department etc. were in attendance.
In his opening remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour thanked all the stakeholders for their thoughtful inputs into the Development Plan. He further encouraged all present to tactfully contribute their thoughts towards improving the Development Plan initially presented.
Assistant Development Planning Officer of the Assembly, Pln. Lord Amonoo-Parker highlighted the process in preparation of the Medium Term Development Plan. Thus assessing the previous Medium Term Development Plan, gathering the needs and aspirations of all the communities in the municipality, the action plan for the plan period, the financial performance, plan for monitoring and evaluation and communication strategy for the new Medium Term Development Plan.
In an open forum, members present uttered their inputs very extensively. All inputs were properly deliberated and accepted where suitable. It was concluded that the entire Plan is fit enough to be presented at General Assembly Meeting for adoption and to be subsequently sent to National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for approval.
In ending the meeting, the Municipal Agric Director, Mr Emmanuel Mensah thanked all present for their participation throughout the entire process. He concluded that the intellectual thoughts expressed by participants will cause the NDPC to approve the Development Plan for implementation in the 2022 to 2025 plan period.
