A severe windstorm occurred in the Bekwai municipality on Saturday, 4th February, 2023 in the hours of 16:45pm to 17:15pm which resulted into destruction of properties, ripped off some buildings, collapsed houses and electricity poles in some of the towns and villages which brought black out overnight in the municipality.
Structures that were affected are Adjamesu A.M.E Zion Primary School ('A' & 'B') A.M.E Zion Church, the Assembly of God Church and the Presbyterian Church. Others are Sesekro M/A Primary & KG. Other towns that recorded damages are Kwamang, Sanfo/Aduam, Ahwiaa/Kyekyewere and Pramaso.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour visited all the victims and assured them that the Government and the Assembly will see how best to help them from their current situation.
