BEKWAI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY INAUGURATES CLASSROOM BLOCKS AT ABODOM and DOTOM

The Bekwai Municipal Assembly on Thursday 22nd August 22, 2019, inaugurated two separate classroom blocks for two different schools in the municipality as parts of efforts to improve educational infrastructure.

The two projects are two- unit day nursery block at Abodom and a six-unit classroom block to replace a dilapidated one for Dotom D/A Primary school. Both projects come with toilet facilities, ceiling fan, headmaster’s office, staff common room, dual desk in all the classrooms and a store room. The two projects were financed by Getfund.

The Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Kwaku Kyei Baffour who commissioned both projects in the company of Hon. Joseph Osei-Wusu, Member of Parliament for Bekwai, said the provision of infrastructure to schools in the municipality was critical to quality education. Addressing Traditional Rulers, Heads of Department and members of the communities at separate functions, the M.C.E said the assembly would continue to provide educational infrastructure and the needed resources to schools in the municipality for effective academic work.

Hon Kyei Baffour urged management of the schools and the communities to own the schools and take good care of them in order to use them for a long period. He said the assembly was committed to ensure the provision of developmental projects across the municipality and urged other communities to be patient as it rolls out its developmental projects. Some of the developmental projects the assembly is undertaking according to the MCE includes a water project at Ofoase Kokoben, toilet facilities at Kokofu, Wesley High and Denyaseman SHS, CHPS compound at Poano, rehabilitation of Feyiase-Asanso roads.

Others include, Kokoben-Dominase town roads, Bekwai Town roads, Getfund projects at Essumeja and Wesley High School among others.

Under IDIF programme, Hon Kyei Baffour hinted that construction of three factories will soon begin in the municipality. The factories are Aketeborge, Adinkra Poultry and Kaskazini Oil Company.

On his part, the Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Hon Joseph Osei-Wusu said the projects were undertaken in fulfillment of a promise he made to the people of the beneficiary communities some time ago after he received a complaint of how dilapidated the old structures were.

According to the MP, it is the vision of his party the NPP and that of the government led by the President, Nana Akuffo Addo to ensure quality education and also to make sure that all children were enrolled in school up to the SHS level.

He asked the contractor working on the Abodom-Dotom road to immediately report to site to continue from where he left. He warned that shoddy work would not be accepted and he was going to see to it that, there is value for money in every project been undertaken.

The Municipal Director of Education expressed her profound gratitude to the Assembly especially the MP for their support. She called on parents to rather invest in the education of their wards than spending money on material things.

The Chief of Dotom, Nana Kyei Yeboah I, expressed his appreciation to the MCE and MP and the Assembly as a whole for fulfilling their promise and putting back the smiles on the pupils faces. He pleaded with the Assembly to do more developmental projects in the community and also to improve upon the security situation within the community.

The queen mother of Abodom who chaired the programme was grateful to the Assembly for providing beautiful schools for the two communities. The programme was graced by Nana Akrese Sarpong, the Regional Information Director.

In attendance were Heads of Departments, Hon Assembly members, the Clergy, Traditional Rulers among others.
