The second ordinary meeting of the seventh session of Bekwai Municipal Assembly has taken place at the Methodist Church Conference Hall in Bekwai.
The meeting brought together the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Assemblymen and women, Government appointees, Heads of Department, and the media.
The first deputy speaker of parliament, Hon. Joseph Osei-Wusu in an address advised the Bekwai Assembly to put in place measures to strengthen the collection of their Internally Generated Fund (IGF) to supplement what they they received from Central government.
The first deputy speaker of parliament who is also a member of parliement for Bekwai constituency, gave the advice at the meeting of the session of the Assembly held on 30th September 2020 at Methodist Church, Bekwai where Hon Assembly members unanimously approved it's fee fixing resolution and composite budget for the year ending 2021.
The Member of parliament again urged members not to extend their political activities into the house as it can impede the development of the constituency.
The budget propose an Internally Generating Fund of GH¢ 1,210,900.00, Central Government Support of GH¢ 10,110.471.00 and Donors partners release of GH¢ 127,747.00.
In his speech, the M.C.E of Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, thanked all the Assembly members for approving the budget and fee-fixing resolution for the Assembly and urged them to support the management to improve it's IGF to complete the proposed project in the Budget.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. Frank Antwi on his part said, the budget is very comprehensive and will address some basic challenges like street lights, toilet facilities etc in the Municipality. He also thanked the Assembly members for their unflinching support for the assembly.
