BEKWAI MCE TAKES PARTS IN NATIONWIDE TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bekwai, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour on Friday, June 11, 2021 led a team to plant over Two Hundred and Fifty (250) tress in the municipality as part of the launch of the nationwide green Ghana day. The exercise which forms part of the Green Ghana Initiative introduced by the Forestry Commission and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is aimed at protecting Ghana’s depleted forest reserve. It is expected that at least 5million trees are expected to planted nationwide.

The MCE, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour review that the Bekwai Assembly has taken delivery of over One Thousand (1000) seedlings made up of different tree species to be planted across the municipality. He said the Green Ghana Day is a very important exercise which all citizens in the country must embraced and thanked the President for such an initiative. Hon. Kyei Baffour said his outfit will follow up on all the seedlings given to individuals to grow to ensure they are well maintained.

Nana Sekyere Ntidom, Kokotorohene, called on traditional leaders, the Clergy and Muslim community to support the project to make it a success. He appealed to the Forestry Commission to make sure the seedlings are properly maintained for them to mature well.
