Bekwai, Ashanti Region – May 22, 2025 - The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bekwai, together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025, held a strategic meeting with the technical team from KCARP (Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant) at the MCE’s office. The engagement focused on conducting feasibility studies for the proposed establishment of a compost plant at Sesekro within the Bekwai Municipality.
The meeting aimed at discussing the potential of converting the Sesekro waste dumping site into a fully functional composting facility to improve waste management and promote environmental sustainability in the municipality.
The MCE, in his remarks, welcomed the KCARP team and expressed the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate on the project. He assured the team of his full support, stating that the project aligns with the government's broader vision for sustainable environmental management and sanitation improvement in Ghana.
The MP for Bekwai also commended the initiative and noted that poor waste management has become a pressing issue and that the proposed compost plant would help transform waste into useful organic products while creating jobs for the local population.
Following the meeting, the delegation—including the MCE, MP, KCARP officials, and municipal officers—embarked on a field visit to Sesekro dumping site and other identified locations in the municipality to assess their suitability for the project.
The KCARP team, after the site inspections, expressed optimism about the prospects and promised to complete their feasibility report promptly. They noted that the Sesekro area showed strong potential due to its accessibility and current usage patterns.
