BEKWAI CONFIRMS HON. KWAKU KYEI BAFFOUR

The President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour was on Friday 1st October, 2021 confirmed by the Assembly Members in the Municipality.

Hon. Kyei Baffour polled Thirty-Two (32) YES, votes as against Fifteen (15) NO votes and One (1) rejected ballot, out of Forty-Eight (48) members present and voting, representing 66% of the valid vote cast. This is the second time that Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour has been voted for as the MCE for Bekwai Municipal after serving his first term from the year 2017 – 2021.

In his opening remarks, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah pleaded with the Hon. Assembly Members to vote massively for the President’s nominee Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour.

On his part, the Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency who is also the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Joseph Osei–Wusu also entreated the Assembly Members to overwhelmingly endorse the President’s nominee.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Kyei Baffour thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work diligently to justify his re-nomination. He also thanked the Assembly Members for the trust reposed in him and asked for their support to move the Municipality forward.

The election was supervised by the Ashanti Regional Electoral Officer, Mr. Benjamin Bannor Bio and supported by the Municipal Electoral Officers of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Some dignitaries that graced the occasion were Bekwaimanhene, Nana Osei Kwadwo Ababio, Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, the M.P for Bekwai Constituency, Hon Joseph Osei-Wusu and Hon Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi M.P for Amansie Central, Jacobu.

Others included, Hon. Eric Kwaku Kusi, DCE for Fomena, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum, Kumawu DCE, Hon. Alexander Frimpong, Asante-Akim South DCE and Hon. Joseph Kwasi Asuming, Bosomtwe DCE.
