On Thursday, 12th May, 2022 the Bekwai Community ICT Center in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) trained a section of people in the Bekwai community on Cyber Fraud Awareness. This exercise was geared towards ensuring that the general public effectively benefit from using the digital space while safeguarding digital safety.

Participants were taken through some common types of scams which include money sent by mistake via Mobile Money scam, make money fast scam, job offer scam, lottery or promotion scam, romance scam (dating apps) etc. as well as how to identify and avoid such fraudulent activities.

Again, they were taken through some rules of engagement in using the digital space as well as the various cybercrime/cybersecurity incident reporting points of contact provided by the Cyber Security Authority.

Participants were overwhelmed by the conduct of the training particularly the impactful content and the orderly presentation of materials. They assured the facilitators that they will uphold all insights given them.
